What is Companies House WebFiling?

By WebFiling.ukUpdated July 8, 20261 min read

WebFiling is the free online service for filing company information with Companies House. Here is what you can do with it and what is changing.

WebFiling is the free online service from Companies House that lets you file your company's information online instead of on paper. Most directors use it at least once a year.

What you can file with WebFiling

You can file your confirmation statement, your annual accounts, and changes to your company such as a new director, a change of registered office, or a change of secretary. You can also sign up for email reminders when filings are due.

  • Confirmation statement (CS01)
  • Annual accounts
  • Director and secretary changes
  • Registered office address changes

What you need to sign in

To use WebFiling you need your company number, an email and password to create an account, and your company authentication code, a 6-character code Companies House posts to your registered office.

What is changing in 2028

From 1 April 2028, WebFiling and paper filing close for annual accounts, which must then be filed with commercial software in iXBRL format. WebFiling stays open for other filings such as the confirmation statement. We are building a free tool to file accounts when that change lands.
