How to file your company accounts with Companies House
A step-by-step overview of filing annual accounts, and how the process changes from 2028.
Every UK limited company must send annual accounts to Companies House, even if it did not trade. This guide covers what you file and how the process works.
What you need to file
The accounts you file depend on your company size. Dormant companies file dormant accounts, micro-entities file FRS 105 accounts, and small companies file small company accounts. Each has different requirements for what must be reported.
How filing works from 2028
From April 2028, accounts must be filed in iXBRL using commercial software. The free web form closes. Choosing the right tool for your company type is the most important decision you will make.
