How to update your company registered office with Companies House, and the rules that apply.
Your registered office is the official address for your company on the public register. You can change it online in minutes, and this filing stays open through WebFiling after 2028.
How to change it
Sign in to WebFiling with your authentication code, choose to change the registered office address, enter the new address, and submit. The change takes effect once Companies House registers it. There is no fee.
The rules
The registered office must be a physical address in the same part of the UK where the company is registered, and it must be an appropriate address where someone can acknowledge documents. From 2024, Companies House requires an appropriate registered office, so a PO Box alone is not allowed.
After you change it
Update the address on your stationery and website, and tell HMRC separately, as updating Companies House does not automatically update your tax records.
