How to add a new director or remove one at Companies House, and what details you need.

Appointing or removing a director is a common change you can make online. Like other company changes, it stays available through WebFiling after the 2028 accounts change.

Appointing a director

Sign in to WebFiling, choose to appoint a director, and enter their details: full name, date of birth, nationality, occupation, and a service address plus their usual residential address (the home address is not shown publicly). The new director must consent to act.

Removing a director

To remove a director, choose to terminate an appointment and give the date they stopped being a director. You should keep your own records of the board decision behind the change.

Keep the register accurate

File director changes promptly, within 14 days, and make sure they match your next confirmation statement. There is no fee for director changes.
